Kevin Price, the author of the new book: The Successful Retirement Guide published in 2009 by Rainbow Books, Inc. Kevin retired from corporate life at age 55 and set out to discover what it means to be successfully retired. The result is his book: The Successful Retirement Guide. Average life expectancy has increased a lot in the last century. For people age 65, it now averages an additional 17+ years for men and 20+years for women. If you want to check out how long you might live there are several interactive online tools you can use. It can be an eye-opening experience. The author, for instance, (a 61 year old male in reasonable health), is projected to live until 92. Assuming your life expectancy is not dissimilar to mine, what are we going to do with all this time? Are we going to "take it easy"? Keep busy? Play more golf or tennis? Visit the grandkids? Go on a cruise? These are all fine activities but there is so much more that is available to us. Rather than letting retirement be a time of winding down, why not let it be a time of growth, accomplishment, giving back and personal fulfillment while maintaining a healthy mind, body and attitude.
